An Interview With: Rayhaan Hans
After the success of my last 'Interview With' blog post I thought I would interview another interesting person in a totally different industry! I've know Rayhaan for years now, having met at University and seeing him pursue his career in sport is amazing! I'll leave you to read the interview to find out what he does!
1. Please can you introduce yourself!
Hi, I'm Rayhaan Hans, 25. I’m an event co-ordinator, primarily based within professional sport. I help organise and direct fan-engagement events at professional sporting events around the country. Additionally, I also assist with trophy and medal ceremonies as well as team and athlete entrances. The main sports I currently work across are international and domestic cricket as well as Premier League football. I have also participated at events such as Rugby World Cup 2015 and IAAF World Indoor Championships 2018 more recently.
2. What are your career goals/life goals?
My main goal in life is to be happy in whatever I end up doing. As long as one day I can look back and say I might not have achieved everything but I stayed true to myself and gave it my all, that will be enough for me.
3. Why do you enjoy most about your work?
I love seeing new places and getting to know new people and I’m grateful that my job allows me to do both of those. The event I’m at might be the same but the fans and people you get to interact with very rarely are. Seeing people come together and enjoying themselves because of sport and knowing I’ve had a helping hand in doing so is very rewarding. I’ve also helped set a world record in the past which is not something you get to do at most jobs either!
4. What is the proudest moment of your life/career so far?
There’s been a few but one always sticks out the most: At one of the main events I work at; a few others and I wave giant St George’s flags on the pitch as the England team come out to play, while Jerusalem is blasting through the PA system. I’ve done it dozens of times over the past few years and it never fails to give me goosebumps every single time I do it. It’s just one of those moments that always fills me with pride and one I’ll never get sick of. I also ran a half marathon to fundraise for charity which was definitely a challenge, but crossing that finish line knowing it was going to benefit those less fortunate gave me a feeling that can’t be beat.
5. If you had one tip for someone wanting to get into the industry you are in, what would it be?
I initially got my first experiences within this industry as a volunteer, something I still like to do now when I get the chance. Volunteering allows you to do a whole range of things and fit it around your personal life. It gave me the opportunity when I was a student to try it out and gave me something to do in my spare time. I never thought it would lead me to where I am now, but it goes to show you should never be afraid to try something new, you never know where it could take you.
6. How can people follow you?
My Instagram handle is @rayhaan14. I tend to post from the events I am at so feel free to follow me to see some of the things I get up to and please do get in touch if you’d like to know more!
Massive thanks to Rayhaan for the interview! Make sure you do go and follow him! If you would like to feature on my blog, use my contact form or send me an email Leanne.holder@hotmail.co.uk
